Honeybee positions

KIWI BRIAN’S HONEY near Iron Springs, AB, is seeking employees for the 2014 season. APIARY TECHNICIAN – NOC: 8253 (3 positions; starting at $13.75/hr) and APIARY GENERAL FARM WORKERS – NOC: 8431 (8 positions; starting at $12.53/hr) needed full time (45+ hrs/wk) for March 1 2014 through November 15 2014. Some evening, night and weekend work. Accommodations are available. All applicants for either position must be willing to work with both leafcutter and honeybees, be in good physical condition, and work in a team environment. Having a valid driver’s license and the ability to speak English will be considered an asset. The Apiary Technicians (NOC: 8253) must have a minimum of 3 seasons of full time experience in a commercial apiary, have the ability to supervise staff, have knowledge in commercial hive management for pollination and honey production, disease diagnosis and mite threshold monitoring. General Farm Workers (NOC: 8431) must have a minimum of 1 season full time experience in a commercial apiary, and have basic knowledge to assist beekeepers with bee hive management, building and repairing bee equipment, placement/pick-up of pollination equipment, and honey harvest /extraction/processing. GENERAL FARM WORKERS (laborer) – NOC: 8431 (8 positions; starting at $11.55/hr) are required full time (45+ hrs/wk) for March 1 2014 through September 30 2014. Some evening, night and weekend work. Accommodations are available. All applicants must be willing to work with both leafcutter and honeybees, be in good physical condition and work in a team environment. A valid motor vehicle license and the ability to speak English will be considered an asset. General Farm Worker’s will assist with: handling bees, build/repairing equipment, preparing equipment, placement/pick-up of pollination equipment and bees in fields throughout southern Alberta.
